The IT hub of Pakistan faced its toughest confront on September 20, 2008 when a bomb shacked the very basis of Marriot Hotel and its surroundings leading to a chaos and closing of many IT firms residing in that area. Nayatel being the only fiber optic network service in the capital city approached its valued customers residing in this area and adopted a hands-on strategy and helped all the companies with offer of emergency help by shifting their accounts to any other location in Islamabad/Rawalpindi on Nayatel fiber network.
The blast happened on Saturday 20 September 2008 night and we started working on very next day morning for customers shifting. Some of the customers were shifted on Monday and their US customers on Monday evening were pleasantly surprised to see their back offices up and running within just one day.
This kind of recovery is even not possible to be achieved by US standards. Most of the IT companies that were up and running in short order were because of Nayatel.
To educate both children and parents about safe use of Internet, Micronet Broadband Group (owner and operator of Micronet Broadband Pvt. Ltd. and Nayatel Pvt. Ltd.), in cooperation with The City School, and Beacon House School Systems, run an Internet safety awareness campaign at selected school campuses in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The activity was aimed to educate and communicate Internet safety guidelines to the children, with involvement of their teachers in classroom environment. The methodology was used to persuade children to adopt the guidelines as part of their academic learning.
To make the message appealing and attractive, Micronet Broadband distributed color pencil boxes, along with well-conceived educational material to the children. The information brochures were aimed at educating children about safe Internet usage, and children friendly resources on Internet. The activity was also intended to communicate the necessary precaution and guidelines to parents to get conformed to latest trends to guide their children appropriately.
Micronet Broadband also visited special children at Chambeli Institute for Handicapped Children, Rawalpindi, to cherish moments of joy with them. The activity was intended to contribute towards rehabilitation of children by helping them to resume normal life activities.
Children possess creativity and genuine thoughts, which if provided with appropriate medium of expression, can create a difference.

Nayatel has been awarded the prestigious Pakistan Educational Research Network (PERN-II) project by Higher Education Commission (HEC). The project awarded after open competitive bidding, involves installation and commissioning of a 10 Gbits optical fiber ring to connect 18 Universities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Nayatel would provide dark fiber of 207 km length for this connectivity to be put online within next 3-4 months for contract duration of 10 years.
The competitors in the run for the project were PTCL, Wateen Telecom and Multinet. Nayatel was ranked No. 1 in both technical as well as financial evaluations.
This landmark achievement coincides with the MBL completing its fifth year of leadership in broadband market since we rolled out country’s first ever DSL services on 09 July 2002.
A 7 member delegation of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) headed by its chairman Maj. Gen (Retd) Manzurul Alam visited Nayatel to discuss issues of mutual interest in regards to scope, potential and adaptability of Next Generation Networks and latest technologies, in context to Bangladesh Telecommunication sector. The delegation showed its keen interest to gain an enhanced understanding on Fiber-to-the-User (FTTU) network infrastructure, and adaptability of converged Triple Play services in meeting 21st century customer needs. The delegation was briefed by Wahaj us Siraj (CEO Nayatel) regarding Fiber optic deployment and BPON network infrastructure in Islamabad, which makes Nayatel first ever FTTU Triple play service provider in South Asian. BTRC delegation was on official visit to Pakistan to discuss potential cooperation issues with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to deregulate Bangladesh Telecommunication sector, by considering massive growth in Pakistan’s Telecom sector as a benchmark.
